The open toll payment system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology supported by an integrated digital platform will be implemented in stages on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) beginning this October, with the Hutan Kampung to Sungai Dua stretch in Penang serving as the pilot project.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said ANPR was the first step towards implementing the Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system within the next two years, aimed at easing congestion at toll plazas.
